Blue Creek Quality Bull (unit 154) camp ground
« on: August 10, 2012, 11:23:43 PM »
I have a bull tag in my pocket  :)but I have no luck with calling and letters, asking pemission to hunt a private property in unit 154 :(. I am looking a place to park my trailer up the hill and secure land owner permission to hunt their land during the Archery Season 1-19 Septembe. I will try to know on doors tomorrow as a last resort but I guess I wont know unless I ask. This scouting trip will be a banzai due to i will be coming from the west side all the way to waitsburg/ wala-wala area.

Guys if you guys know anyone in the unit i could ask for a permission to camp in their land for 1-19 of Sept.  please let me know.

anything will be appreciated, once again Thanks for all your help.

Good luck.

FYI it's the middle of harvest so you won't find to many people at home

I think if I had that tag the place I'd start my scouting would be the ale house in Waitsburg, and then the McGregor farm services place in WW.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Man that's a tough one. I'm a local and don't even apply for that tag because permission is so hard to come by. I went to college with a guy that owns ground up there & used to be able to hunt it but now it's pay to hunt.

If you can get the map that will show them, there is alot of state and school land. There is still also some feel free to hunt but not that much. we have land in this unit and I wont but in for it. It is like all the other tags, it takes alot of work it is just a different kind of work. Scouting is a good thing also, during a deer season one year we watch a bunch of elk cover almost half the unit it seemed from being spooked.

You need to look at you game regs closer before you put in for this hunt or for quite a few others if you look.  It states right in there that access is very limited and to not put in for this hunt in less you have access.  If you put in for this hunt without access issues solved first then you get what you reap!!  Not trying to be harsh but people need to do some research before diving head into the unknown. :sry:

Alright!!! :) Looking good boys... Saturday afternoon I left the house after work to scout the unit (6.5 hours drive). when i got to the unit wheat fields and garbanzo beans are still standing up. I saw a gang load of bucks like I have never seen before. I even saw the biggest mule deer in my life. This Morning I saw a huge big belly black bear cross the road 20 yards in front of my truck. But Elk where no where to be found. It was 99 degrees up there, had a flat and it was hell to change it in that temp. The real reason I drove is to get permission to hunt and find a place for our ELK CAMP, mission accomplish because I got both. Everything is coming togerther so far. Just add Bull and it will be a complete DIY fair chase Bull elk hunt.  :IBCOOL:almost 15 hours of driving in less than 24 hours. I am tired and I got work tomorrow.
